Presenters: Otis Collier and Walter Akana

Walter Akanais founder of a private practice, Threshold Consulting, and he is a Senior Career Management Consultant with Right Management's Atlanta office. At both Right and through Threshold Consulting, Walter provides a range of services to a diverse array of clients in career transition. In addition, he works with fast-track executives on blending the power of their own brands to serve the larger corporate brands they serve. He is also a blogger and active user of social media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. Walter’s blend of experience is truly unique. A full-time Career Consultant since 2001, Walter has more than 20+ years in senior training roles with extensive work in corporate and investment banking, at firms, including SunTrust and Wachovia in Atlanta, were he now resides.

.In New York, he ran Credit Suisse’s Corporate Finance and Capital Markets program for international bankers, and provided career guidance to program participants; and he oversaw leadership and professional development for the Western Hemisphere. He also has experience in retail merchandising, and prior to that he was a social worker providing career counseling to young adults in New York’s South Bronx. Walter holds an M.S. from Columbia University and a B.A., Psychology from the State University of New York. He is a Certified Retirement Coach, and a Certified Strategist in Personal Branding and Online Identity.

Otis Collier is a seasoned Certified Internet Recruitment Trainer with hands-on experience in the areas of internet and diversity recruiting, candidate sourcing, and core recruitment skills training. Mr. Collier has consulted with clients on a wide variety of corporate recruiting issues. His services include training, recruiting, and sourcing. He is also the author of an e-book titled, “You Don’t Know SQUAT About Job Hunting“. Mr. Collier’s professional clientele list includes Starbucks, Indy Mac Bank, Northrop Grumman, Citibank, Abbott Laboratories, Google, and Microsoft.

With over fifteen years of experience in military and civilian recruiting, Mr Collier is considered one of the country’s top experts in e-recruiting. Her has traveled across the United States teaching well over 5,000 recruiters the art of passive candidate mining via the web. He is the previous Director of Corporate Training for the well known recruitment solutions company, AIRS. Currently with Wachovia Corporation as the Assistant Vice President of Training and Development, Collier is responsible for the company’s entire recruitment and staffing division. He is also the Director of Entrepreneurship and Professional Development at Kingdom Builders Christian Center in Norcross, Georgia. Otis has interests in business, marketing, training, and personal development. He enjoys experimenting with new technology and applying it to practical real life applications. He currently spends his spare time mentoring and coaching business professionals on how to become recognized experts in their field of work.
