Resilience in Action:
Solutions for Career Change, Disruption, and Growth

This interactive conference convenes career development professionals from across Georgia and beyond for a focused, solutions-driven exchange on navigating change in today’s workforce. Hosted by the Georgia Career Development Association (thegcda.org), the event brings together practitioners from higher education, K–12, private practice, workforce development, government, and nonprofit settings. 

Guided by experts in the fields of career resilience, leadership and career counseling, attendees will explore current workplace complexities and how to apply new applications to an age-old problem of global industry tsunamis.

Expect practical takeaways and thoughtful dialogue, for all career practitioners that may be applied to ourselves as well as with our clients.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS & FACILITATORS

Dr. Linda Hoopes


Dr. Linda Hoopes is a psychologist, author, and speaker who is devoted to helping make the world a more resilient place. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1988, served on the faculties of Rutgers and Georgia Tech, spent more than a decade in organizational change consulting, and leads an international community of practice focused on bringing her work into a variety of environments and organizations.

Linda loves to write. Her award-winning Prosilience: Building Your Resilience for a Turbulent World is a practical guide to intentionally building challenge-readiness. The Six Challenges project, which integrates the Prosilience framework with a range of special topics, has yielded two co-authored books- Embracing Another Normal: Resilience Stories and Strategies for Raising Children with Disabilities (coauthored with Kris Burbank) and Resilient Careers: Stories and Strategies for Sustaining Professional Growth (coauthored with Jan Cummings and Michele DeRosa)—with more to come.

She’s also passionate about family history and publishes two online projects based on a legacy of journals and letters. She recently took on the presidency of Atlanta Area Friends of Folk Music and is sharing her explorations in the Atlanta Folk newsletter.

Dr. Bret Anderson



Bret Anderson, Ph.D. is the President of h2 Communication, LLC® (h2C) a Veteran Owned Small Business, Psychological Counseling, Job Readiness Training and Executive Coaching and Frontline Leadership Development company. Bret has taught Career Development content for approximately 32 years for a variety of clients, such as veterans, staff working with justice-involved individuals, and other marginalized groups. Bret is a Career Development Facilitator Instructor and owns a patent and a business that utilizes an employer-fit algorithm that assists small and large business in their crusade to recruit, hire, on-board, talent manage, and retain applicants (QMI Inc.)


Bret served as the veteran representative member of the FCD Advisory committee for six years and then was elected as the first chair of the NCDA Training and Education Council, where he served as the chair for another four years.  Bret is currently the NCDA President Elect.z


Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Northcentral University as well as a master’s & bachelor’s degree in communication, both from the University of Colorado Denver. 

Dr. Anderson is a sports enthusiast who lives in beautiful Morrison, CO with his wife of 30 years, four children and two grandchildren.

Nadine Walley



Nadine Walley is a Leadership, Development, Career Coach, Speaker, and Meeting Facilitator. She partners with clients, organizations, and teams to maximize their personal and professional potential through a creative and thought-provoking process that may include Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Positive Intelligence (PQ), Energy Leadership, and assessments such as Energy Leadership Assessment and StrengthsFinder. 

Nadine has a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in Education and Human Development and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University in Health Services Administration. She holds a Global Career Development Facilitator Certification (CCE), Certification in EQ Coaching, plus Certified Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) from IPEC. She is a Professional Certified Coach from ICF, and is certified as an AIRS Professional Recruiter and specialized in Diversity Recruiter and Internet Search. 

Her professional work experience includes management and senior management roles in healthcare marketing and communications, business development, economic development, government, corporate responsibility, community relations, and retained executive search recruiting.

Nadine is a co-leader at St. Ann’s CareerQuest and led the Life Lessons at Hotel Equities Career Ministry for seven years. She is also serving her 3rd year on the GCDA Executive Board.

In her spare time, Nadine enjoys working out, running on trails, tennis, cooking, and gardening. She is married and has a grown daughter and a golden retriever named Joy.
